Who We Are
Educate a Child Initiative originates from the poor life of the Kenyan Sister Queen. She studied and lived under despicable conditions in Lirembe village. When she got a chance to further her studies in the US, she remembered her journey of poverty and how she missed on all the great things that rich children savored. She envisioned mitigating the poverty levels in her community by seeking for donations to take poor children to Catholic Boarding Schools, specifically, Sts. Peter and Anne in Mumias, Kakamega County in Kenya. Catholic schools are known for high levels academe as well as the development of faith. This is the task of the Initiative.
It is guided by a team of advisors in the US. The team markets the initiative to fundraise for the poor children in Lirembe.
Our Mission and Vision
The Mission of ECI is to finance the education of poor bright children through Catholic Education specifically at Sts. Pater and Mumias Boarding Schools. this mission is destined to continue to infinity. Through Catholic education, we envision bringing these children to Christ as He requested us in the Gospels.
Another part of our mission is to support parents’ projects and enable these parents to feed their children when they come home for holidays. We, thus, encourage parents to commit to undertaking projects that will enable these parents to become self-sufficient and self-supporting.
Our hope is to assist five children every year and if well sponsored, take others to their domicile schools as they await joining our two catholic schools.
We have made a huge milestone by taking about twenty-two children to school in this year 2023.
Our Goals
To plant cotton and produce our own fabrics for uniforms in our school and other Catholic schools in Kenya. This will mitigate the use of second-hand clothes that are contributors to skin diseases and poverty.
To start fish farming project and tree planting to contribute to ecological promotion.
Purchase a plot of land at a cost of $10000-20000 and construct a Catholic campus with elementary and High schools. Then a college/university with a catechetical wing within the same proximity. This campus will be self-sufficient. It will provide food, books, and uniform to the students. Besides, Evangelization and catechetical training will be added to the curriculum. Catechesis will be given to catechists, who will be sent to minister in the parishes after concluding their training.
To train and employ our students as teachers, clerks, and accountants to sustain themselves.
